Course Description:  Good medical records are essential, but most of us are left to make up our own system with very little guidance.  This course will provide numerous straight forward practical ways to enhance your documentation, with plenty of tips and resources.  Make your records and documentation faster, more efficient, articulate, and professional. As well as with better defense and protection in the case of a legal accusation.  The kind of documentation presented can provide enhanced ethics, better safety, and enhanced respect and referrals.  Appropriate for all practitioners.

Full attendance includes 2 hour credit in Medical Errors and Safety, 2 hour credit in Florida Laws and Rules, and 2 hours in Ethics (NCCAOM requirement).

Learner objectives, what the course will cover and provide: 

  • Why we do notes to begin with, the six root drivers of actual content and format, what is required for each.

  • Understanding of necessity for narrative structure and why (and how), and utilization of low cost software resources to accomplish this simply, quickly  and effectively.

  • What Florida expects and requires for content, maintenance and management of medical records/documentation.

  • How content of medical records/documentation can cause or affect a Florida (or other state) or NCCAOM discipline charge, and how proper records can help in a discipline cas

  • National, Federal requirements of medical records

  • How does the rest of the medical world accomplish this?

  • Content, structure and methods to do a better record with less time and effort

  • How medical records/documentation interplay with and enhance ethics and safety and how to accomplish this

  • Tips on what to include, and how, in documentation when billing insurance for a patient encounter

  • Easy to use common phrases that attendee can take home and put to use

Information about the Speaker:  Amy Sear, A.P., Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM) is an experienced speaker and is valued for her organized, practical, and information filled presentations. She completed her Oriental Medical education from the Acupressure Acupuncture Institute in Miami, FL.  Amy served as President of FSOMA from 2004 to 2010, and currently teaches at two schools in Florida.  She has taught practical and clinical continuing education since 2000, and is considered an expert in laws, safety, ethics, and documentation. She has over seventeen years experience in Integrative practice, including employee status at Memorial Healthcare Systems in Broward County, FL,. She brings her years of respected teaching experience to these topics in order to help others.
