Who can help recent graduates with career counseling? AMC promised this to prospective students and now we don’t know who we can reach out to.
- FSOMA offers all kinds of support. We have a great webinar on the basics of starting a practice - you can follow links on the Member Benefits page to see them all.

- You can call the office and talk to me about your thoughts and plans and get feedback. I can connect you with practitioners in your area willing to help coach you.
I also know people involved in the VA or working in hospitals and can connect you if that is a route in which you have interest. - We regularly post information from SCORE.org which is an organization that mentors new businesses for free. You can connect with them to find a free coach.
Where can I get a copy of official transcripts in the future will need some in a closed envelope for my PhD?
- At some point transcripts will reside with the State of Florida Dept of Education and be available through them. Most places wanting transcripts want them sent by the school or an official agency.
- If you know now where you would want to go, try and arrange for them to be sent before the AMC office finishes its work.
It’s not my case, as I quit my job for 6 months to be able to finish everything on time but Some students didn’t complete their clinic hours/ patient observation requirements and were still given the “graduated” status. They have asked if this Wil be an issue when applying for FL license?
- I cannot answer the questions about those who are “graduated” and licensing. The State of Florida looks at transcripts so they may need to work with ATOM or FCIM to complete those hours as part of the teach out. Depends on how the information was reported to the State of Florida. Check with Dr Wilson at ATOM or the AMC email.
Some recent graduates (walked less than a month before closure announcement) are afraid this will affect their reputation. Do you think this will be an issue when applying to jobs in the future ?
- If “walked less than a month” means they finished the program and are getting licensed, I don’t believe it will. If someone presents themselves well, is able to engage in the interview process, shows a willingness to be part of the organization to which they are applying that counts for the majority of why someone would be hired.
I would be ready (only if asked about AMC closing) to say that the quality of the instructors and education was excellent and you are saddened that the administration could not overcome financial obstacles to continue as a school.
Hang in there,
Ellen
